Below the garter is a reclining \u0027sphinx\u0027 on a plinth inscribed \u0027EGYPT\u0027. Eight radiating arms sit amongst a field of raised dots in the shape of an eight pointed star. These arms bear the Battle Honours for the regiment, but the plate is worn from polishing making the honours difficult to read. The plate reverse has a single pin for attachment. The four brass tabs which previously hooked the plate to the belt have been removed.
